At a Bible Study and prayer meeting at our home last night the question came up where did these people go that are mentioned in Matthew so we read this verse. “Then, behold, the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom; and the earth quaked, and the rocks were split, and the graves were opened, and many bodies of the saints who had fallen asleep were raised; and coming out of the graves after His resurrection, they went into the holy city and appeared to many.” (Matthew 27:51–53 NKJV)
The discussion was whether they went to heaven or not. One side that the Bible does not say they went to haven while the other side says it doesn’t say they didn’t. Therefore we have a believer who chooses to believe in the negative while another held the position they did. When we choose the negative we are saying God did not do it or God cannot. The positive said says he can do anything he wishes. Just a few minutes be
While working a book I am writing the Holy Spirit provided clues into the mystery of these risen bodies the why, and the where. The first clue is “The angel said to the women, ‘Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay.’” (Matthew 28:5-6 NIV) The next clue is, Jesus said, “Do not hold on to me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father. Go instead to my brothers and tell them, ‘I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God.” (John 20:17 NIV)
A third clue, “36 While they were still talking about this, Jesus himself stood among them and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ 37 They were startled and frightened, thinking they saw a ghost. 38 He said to them, Why are you troubled, and why do doubts arise in your minds? 39 Look at my hands and my feet. It is I myself! Touch me and see; a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have.” (Luke 24: 36-39 NIV) The final clue for this mystery is “So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:54 KJV)
I have present the clues now that took place. Jesus is the first to be resurrected. God also provides evidence that Jesus’ resurrection of Jesus is fulfilled. Now consider this the body of many of these people were long dead and their bodies had decayed. Therefore to have a walking function body the corruptible put in the incorruption, a new body of immortality. Now is there a difference with this body and the answer is it two of the other clues Jesus goes to the Father. Jesus took them out of the grave and he takes them to where He goes. The final clue is that Jesus appears in the upper room. He does not enter through the door. This clue indicates that the interruptible body is capable of appearing and reappearing therefore it is capable of going to Heaven as Jesus did. There is no reason for changing these bodies to witness only. When we look at the clues we find the answer to the mystery.
I thank the Holy Spirit for revealing to me the clues to what my Faith believed.
